Seoul--hip hop dance classes???

Postby harumi » September 13th, 2009 10:23 am

Hello everyone!

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a beginner hip-hop dance class
in Seoul. I tried searching on the net, but no luck. I live in Bongcheon on line 2....but I'm more than willing to commute!! :)

Any help would be much appreciated!!!

Thank you!!!

Hi Harumi :)

By any chance, are you looking for one where they speak some English? If not, there are a lot of places that you can choose from ^^

One place I used to recommend to people isn't running any more. T.T Try searching with the key words " 힙합 댄스 스쿨 서울 " :)

Hope this helps! And if you need more help, please let me know!

Hi Hyunwoo,

Thanks for the quick reply! :D

I'm so sad that the place you used to refer people to has shut down.

I don't really need a place that speaks English, but I just hope they won't be too
frustrated b/c my Korean is very basic. :( So maybe somewhere just really friendly.

In the meantime, I will start searching and see what I can find. If there is a list of classes online, are there keywords for me to look for to see if it's for beginners???
초심자??

If anyone else is going to a beginner hip-hop class in Seoul, I would really
love to hear about it......Please......

Thank you!!!

I'll ask some more people around! :)

The keywords you want to use are 초보 / 댄스 / 힙합 / 스쿨 / 학원 :)

Beginner = 초보 or 초급 :)

Well, I found one lead for classes so far...
after a lot of searching, I found some information on this thread.

and they mentioned this schooll:

You can find a lot of Youtube videos if you look up
데프 댄스스쿨

Looks very promising!!!

hi harumi. i just saw your post. i have been to that dance studio a couple of times during my visits to korea. it seems like a good place to go. they were really helpful and let me watch a class. there was an instructor there that spoke really good english named tae youn. he is a popping teacher there and gave me his card. good luck and hope this helps!

Sorry to reply to such an old post but I have the very same question as Harumi.

Any feedback on the school mentioned above ? Or any new school you would recommend ?

Thanks in advance !

If anyone is still looking, Tae Youn opened a dance company called Negative Motion Dance Studio. The location is Haengdang-dong, Seongdong-gu.

He's a friend of mine and I can guarantee you he's a good teacher and can also teach in English :D I believe he teaches hip hop in English in the Gangnam and Sadang area.

The website for his school is motiondance.net or you can contact him at or 010-8747-7748 / 070-4239-8949

Good luck! :)
