What does it mean when something is combined with 버리다?
I understand that in some cases it implies that the action is finished completely e.g. 먹어 버렸어 (to eat up completely) or 읽어 버렸다 (to finish reading). But how about the following:
- 떠나 버리다
- (문이) 잠겨 버리다
- 가 버리다
- 되어 버리다
- 나와 버리다
- 시작해버리다
- etc.
Hrm. I mean, if you leave a place, or start something, or lock a door etc, you can't do it halfway, you must do it completely right? So what's the difference between saying "문이 잠겨 버렸어요" and "문이 잠겼어요"?
thank you!
