Onomatopoeia

Postby kyuree » January 9th, 2009 8:11 pm

I had thought about this before and now I saw that the team from JapanesePod101 already have it (or started to have it?), it is also something that can be found in Korean frequently

Onomatopoeia!! :D

I will never forget that

산타 하라버지는 벙글벙글 웃었습니다.
or that the stars shine 반짝반짝.

Is 깜작 놀았슴니다 also onomatopoeia?

Anyways, I'm not sure I spelt them all correctly but I'm sure you can think of more examples and it would be nice to have a short series on this topic :)

규리 :)

Good suggestion ^^ We're thinking of the best way to present these words in a lesson, so that the words will really stick ^^!

I think the only onomatopoeia in Korean I know is: 두근두근... from "Gee" by 소녀시대 and it's like... the sound of your heart beating, or something.

I totally don't know whether that's right or not... it's just in that song... LOL. :D

^^

hey, I think I know how you feel. I look veeery Korean, even Koreans in Korea took me for a full-Korean and ppl in the West expect you to be fluent in "Chinese" b/c you (errr I mean me!) look Asian.

The heart beat is dokidoki in Japanese :D .

Yesterday in my Korean class our teacher said the ice freezes 꽝꽝 얼다 and melts 슬슬 녹다. I wonder whether that's also onomatopoeia.
Another thing we learnt was
푹 빠지다 haha, I think it's kind of ZEN, I dunno how to translate it into English...
