baduk 바둑

Postby waterbugg » November 5th, 2008 6:11 am

Most go (baduk) resources in America are from Japan but I know it is also very popular in Korea. One of my friends has a baduk teacher who is Korean. Maybe a lesson on vocab? If you don't know what go is http://www.usgo.org.

Yes, that would be great and I'm sure we're not the only baduk players here. :D

Thank you for the request ^^

We'll prepare a lesson on 바둑 for early next year - what kind of lessons do you think you'll benefit most from ? A culture class ? Or a lesson specifically introducing some 바둑 terminology? :)

I think a culture class would be best. It's a lot easier to just look up terms than learn about the culture! :) 감사합니다!

Any news on the Baduk Culture Class lesson?
my main motivation to study Korean is to be able to read all the baduk books i bought when i was in Korea ~
also I'd love one day to get badook tv and actually understand what's going on~~
please don't forget about us baduk fans!

Thanks!

Did the Baduk lesson ever happen? I've been searching for it and I can not find it.

If not, I'll also request a lesson covering a baduk themed dialog. My interest in Korean is driven entirely by my interest in Go/Baduk. The local go players speak only Korean, and I speak only English. I am trying to develop basic language skills in Korean for use at the Go club.

There are three exchanges that are essential:

1) Negotiating the handicap at the beginning of the game. (jeopbaduk) (should I take a handicap? yes, three stones.)

2) Telling the other player that your move is to pass. (chaksupogi)

3) Resigning when things look grim. (deonjida)

Some other phrases that might be nice: Would you like to play a game with me? Whose turn is it? Where was your last play? Thank you for the game.

Thanks.
