Hangul Type

Postby matinga » September 5th, 2008 1:15 am

For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to download hangul type. I followed the directions in the help page but then I got to a part where a certain icon is suppose to appear in the bottom right of my screen. Well it does not appear and I am stuck. I tried simply downloading hangul fonts but that did not work either...
I use XP...can anyone help?

not sure what you've done so far, when you go to control panel=> regional and language options=> languages=>and press "details" do you see Korean Input system (MS IME2002) as an option for default input language?

If so when you right click on the blue task bar at the bottom of your screen=> toolbars do you see a "language bar" option?

First of all, welcome to KC101! Sorry that the tech staff hasn't resolved this yet - perhaps if you post in the technical support area? Actually, a quick email to the tech team should clear it up too. Other wise, here's some of the things that helped me.

I use WinXP on my desktop too. Here's a screenshot and some instructions. Hope they help! Glad to see another

Naver (the most famous searching portal in Korea) also presents the free fonts.

http://hangeul.naver.com/index.nhn

You could see four green buttons at the bottom of that sheet,
left two are for windows(TTF) and the right two are for Mac(OTF).

"나눔글꼴 전체 자동설치" means automatically setup for installing Nanum fonts.
"나눔글꼴 전체 내려받기" means to download the whole Nanum fonts set.

Vista does foreign language support very seamlessly - one of the few things done right :P

go to:
control panel > clock, language, and region > change keyboards or other input methods > keyboards and languages > change keyboards > add > and select Korean Microsoft IME. To switch from English to Korean and vice versa, hit right ALT. If you select only "Korean", I don't think it will work - I think you have to have both Korean and Korean IME (sorry - not near vista right now).

let me know if this solves it.

http://stores.ebay.com/The-Best-Sticker ... idZ2QQtZkm
this ebay store sells some great permanent foreign language stickers. make sure to get the transparent ones - I have these on every keyboard I have - in three different colors at that. cheap and easy to apply.
