창피하다

Postby orbiter » September 16th, 2008 3:13 am

I noticed on tv that people should use 창피하다 instead of 쪽팔리다. Is there any special reason for this? 쪽팔려 is not a "bad" word right?

tks!

Although It's not a bad word, also not a standard word.
It's a kind of slang.
if a person use it on TV, people might think he/she is not a well-educated person.
But it'll be okay using it between friends.

You'd better not use '쪽팔려', because it is a talk of back street, low class, or no taste, however it is widely used.

창피하다 is enough to express emotion of being humiliated.
You can learn slang only to know what it is but not to use it for the sake of your reputation.
