Hangul used to be written vertically, too.

This is an image I brought from http://www.hangeulmuseum.com/.
Their English page isn't fully prepared yet, but in the Korean page
you can browse some really cool pictures of old hangul writing.

That is really beautiful. It makes me want to go buy a brush and some black ink. Would that improve my handwriting? My first attempts at hangeul are awful! That's probably because it was originally designed for brushes and not a freshly sharpened #2 pencil.
On Skype, I'm nenuphar_ (just like that with the underline character ending)

I wish I could write like this too. :o Since I'm Korean, my handwriting isn't bad at all, hehe, but ... I still want to be able to write *beautifully* someday. I envy those who can write really good caligraphy pieces so much. :D

hyunwoo..

Did I ever tell you that I studied some 서예 last year? I did it for about 4-5 months. I never got around to the Chinese characters... mt teacher was reluctant to even let me try some more fancy 한글 scripts. Anyway, all my pieces are home in America, but you can get a feel for what I "wrote" here:

Nice! I wish I had the opportunity to take such a class. I've seen the flickr set and I just have one question. Did they not teach the other style? I don't know what it's called but it looks like the font GungsuhChe. It's gorgeous.
