Standard politeness level

Hello,

In Lesson 11, (Beginner level, Season 1), we see the construction of standard politeness level, with verb stem ending in vowel (아 / 어 / 여).

However, what's the construction for verb stem ending in consonant?
For example, 울다 (to cry), 아프다 (to be sick), ... ?
I don't know how to conjugate them to the standard politeness level!

Hello,

Thank you for posting. For most words ending with a consonant, you would add 어요 to construct the standard politeness level.
For example:

울다:
-->울어요

있다:
-->있어요

먹다:
-->먹어요

Thanks for posting.
Check the verb stem after you have taken off the '다'. If the verb stem includes the vowel 'ㅗ' or 'ㅏ', you will need to use '아요'. In other cases you can add '어요'.
For example:

좋다-->좋(ㅗ)-->좋아요
많다-->많(ㅏ)-->많아요
