Greeting Older Sister in-laws

Postby peter.schwoerer_229028 » July 11th, 2015 10:43 am

I will be going to Korea soon and will be meeting my wife's three sisters and one brother and their spouses along with their children (all adult males). All of my wife's siblings are older than I am. Their order is, oldest sister in law, brother in law, 2nd oldest sister, 3rd oldest sister and then my wife.

Naturally I am practicing my Korean, but I REALLY want to make sure I greet each of my wife's relatives correctly. Can someone please help?

Additionally my oldest sister in law is flying into Seoul at the same time we are so I would like to ask her "Good to see you, how was your flight?" or something along those lines.

Hi there,

You must be excited and nervous to meet your wife's siblings and their spouses!

Additionally my oldest sister in law is flying into Seoul at the same time we are so I would like to ask her "Good to see you, how was your flight?" or something along those lines.
-> You can say "안녕하세요. 반갑습니다. 오시느라 고생하셨어요." Annyeonghaseyo. Bangapsseumnida. Osineura gosaenghasyeosseoyo.
Literally, "Hello. Nice to meet you. You must be worn out from coming all the way."

Enjoy your stay in Korea.

Thanks,
Claire
