Lesson Practice for Absolute Beginner Season 2 Lesson 25

Postby timandyou » December 21st, 2010 2:42 am

A. Key Vocabulary
Please translate the following vocabulary into Korean.
Example - 1. "See you again!" : hint (tto bo-ja)
또(tto) + 보(bo) + 자(ja) = 또 보자

2. "in a moment," "soon : hint (Geum-bang)

3. "again" : hint (tto)

4. "good-bye" : hint (jal-ga an-nyeong)

5. "I was very happy during my stay.": hint (Geu-dong-an jeul-geo-wo-sseo)

6. "Then, take good care of yourself" : hint (Geu-reom, jal ji-nae)

B. Lesson Focus
The focus of this lesson is about the most common expressions that we use when saying "good-bye" between Korean friends.

Example - 1. "Thank you for everything during my stay!" : hint (Geu-dong-an go-ma-wo-sseo!)
Subject: 나는 (na-neun); We usually omit the subject, "I."
Time phrase: 그동안 (geu-dong-an) = "during my stay"
Verb: 즐거웠어! (jeul-geo-wot-seo) = "I've been happy!"
(나는) 그동안 즐거웠어!

2. "Thank you for everything during my stay!" : hint (Geu-dong-an go-ma-wo-sseo!)
Subject: (na-neun); We usually omit the subject, "I." = _______
Time phrase: (geu-dong-an) = "during my stay" = __________
Verb: (go-ma-wo-sseo) = "thank you!" = _________
______________________________________________

3. "Please take care of yourself." : hint (Jal ji-nae)
Subject: (neo)/(dang-sin); We almost always omit the object, "you." = _________
Adverb: (jal) "well" = ________
Verb: (ji-nae) "to live"/"to get along" = __________
_____________________________________

4. "Please take care of yourself." : hint (jal ji-nae-go it-seo)
Subject: (neo)/(dang-sin); We usually omit the object, "you." = ___________
Adverb: (jal) = "well" = _____
Verb #1: (ji-nae) = "to live"/"to get along" = ________
Conjunction: (go) = "and"; We use the conjunction to merge two or more verbs into one (intermediate level grammar) = ___
Verb #2: (it-seo) = "to be" = ________
____________________________________________

5. "Good-bye" : hint (jal-ga an-nyeong)
(jal) "good" = ____
(ga) means "to go" = _______;
therefore, (jal-ga) means "good-bye." = __________

C. Test yourself
Please translate the following into Korean.
Example - 1. "I was very happy during my stay, Tim." : hint (Geu-dong-an jeul-geo-wo-sseo, Tim)
그동안 즐거웠어, 팀.

2. "Thank you, everyone!" : hint (Geu-dong-an go-ma-wo-seumnida, yeoreobun!)

3. "Well (then), bye..." : hint (Geu-reom an-nyeong...)

If you answer them in Korean, that's PERFECT!
If you answer them in Romanization, that's good too.
Reply this post then, I will kindly assist and give you the answers.
여러분 힘 내세요~~! Don't give up guys~~!
Cheers,

Thanks for the feedback! I couldn't remember how to spell "있습니다". And I appreciate the correction on the spacing. I've always struggled on when to put a space between all the letter combos!

Now...if I can just remember all I've learned!
