Visiting Korea in January

Postby porscheamartin3770 » November 1st, 2010 7:13 pm

Hello everyone! My name is Porschea and I'm from the USA. I'll be visiting Seoul this upcoming January for almost a month. I've been trying to learn Korean for a few months but I haven't gotten very far. I plan to get really serious as I will be traveling alone and spending most of my days there alone.

What are some things that I can do alone there? Are there many people there who speak English in case I need help?

Thank you!

Hello porscheamartin3770,

As an English speaker, I don't think you would have a lot of problem communicating with people.
If you need any help, find people age between 20-35. Many of them could understand some English.
However, one thing I must say is this -

First, be kind, be polite and be respectable when communicating with them.
Second, be moderate and do your best to look nice yourself. (many young people would judge you by your appearance).
cheers,

Hello porscheamartin3770,

First, I need to know who you are!

1. What's your gender?
2. How young are you?
3. What's your personality? (one word please such as "outgoing")
4. What's your personal interest or hobby? (such as "shopping, eating, sightseeing...)
5. Are you good at starting conversation with strangers?
6. Are you morning-person or night-person?

I guess... those are what I need to know before giving you any idea(s).
Simple answer would be great!
cheers,

Whatever happened to this person?

porscheamartin - are you still going to Korean in January?

Here is the official Korean tourism website http://www.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/1001_About%20Korea.jsp

January: It will be very very cold, especially up north. The winter scenery is typical of anyplace that has 4 seasons, a little bleak by the bare branches of deciduous trees and shrubs, the annual flowers and grasses will have long since whithered but you will scarcely see their remains for the white blanket of snow that softly covers the landscape and makes even the worst of manmade "junkscape" seem sparkling clean and new.

I think I will leave from LAX on the 3rd of January and return toward the end of the month.

cheers,
