How do I say 'I need something to make me feel good?'

Postby crabstix » October 23rd, 2010 1:12 pm

How do I say 'I need something to make me feel good?' Is '좋은 느낌이 필요해요' correct?

I also wanna say 'because the weekend is coming to an end'

would '주말은 곧 끝나니까' be correct?

Good job -- I like that -your Korean is good - don't let anyone tell you different! :D I think you would be understood. I like the way you said the weekend is about to end. It will be interesting to see what suggestions Tim and Sean will come up with. As for me I like coming up with odd expressions like this one: 아무튼 주말말이라서 무슨 기분 좋은 일이라도 생겼으면 하는데요. In the previous sentence the word '주말' literally means week(주) end(말) and by adding another '말' we come out with a really fun 'weekend's end' :D

Hello crabstix,

Thanks for leaving the comment here.
I don't see any problem with your expression - 'I need something to make me feel good?' Is '좋은 느낌이 필요해요'
- 'because the weekend is coming to an end' '주말은 곧 끝나니까'

Your Korean expression is correct and good.

If I translate "I need something to make me feel good?" in Korean, (let's say that I say it to my best friend in Korea).
기분전환을 위해서 무언가(뭔가)가 필요해.
기분전환 "changing my feelings or mood, getting fresh feelings,..."
위해서 "in order to"
무언가(뭔가)가 필요해 "I need something"
Therefore, 기분전환을 위해서 무언가(뭔가)가 필요해 = "I need something in order to change my feelings/mood"
= 'I need something to make me feel good?' Is '좋은 느낌이 필요해요'

If I translate "because the weekend is coming to an end", I would do the same 주말은 곧 끝나니까.
I think your Korean skill is good and very advanced.
cheers,

Ditto! :D

Anyways I'm gonna try another version for the variety.

I need something to make me feel good.
뭔가 기분좋은 일이 생겼으면 좋겠어요.

Because the weekend is coming to an end.
주말이 다 끝나가니까.

뭔가(something) 기분좋은 일(thing that makes one feel good)
생겼으면(if it occured) 좋겠어요(would be good)
->Koreans actually tend to use 'it would be good to blabla..(..했으면 좋겠다)' more than 'I need to blabla..(..가 필요해)'
다(all) 끝나가다(to be going to an end)

I think the subject marker '이' would be better for the subject '주말' than '은' because there is nothing to be compared with.
Although '은' is not grammatically wrong.

Sean.

I like all of you guys' expressions.

Tim's 기분전환으로 무언가 필요해요. is a nice expression.

But "좋은 느낌이 필요해요." sounds like a little kinky. hahaha JK

I will say "기분전환으로 뭔가 하고 싶어요." using Tim's basically.
