I guess it may be confusing when using it.
Let me explain 이제 and 지금 with one simple sentence. Based on George's definition.
Look at these sentences.
이제 봄이네요.
지금 봄이네요.
In English, it might be same sentence but has different meaning in Korean.
이제 봄이네요. is used in a situation that spring is just around the corner but it's still winter. And 지금 봄이네요. is that it's spring now as you know.

This is kind of tricky.
Let me explain the concept so that you could understand it easier.

지금 is "now" as a point in time.

이제 is "now" as a result of passing time.


As Julia said,
This difference makes two sentences slightly different in nuance.

지금은 여름이다.
It's summertime.

이제는 여름이다.
It's summer now. (the spring is gone)


In most cases, they are hard to be distinguished.
But sometimes the difference between two concepts
are seen clearly.

지금 왔어요?
You came now?

이제 왔어요?
You came late!


지금 가세요.
Go right now.
(this is the time)

이제 가세요.
You should go now.
(you don't need to stay anymore)
(I want you to leave)

Ok, I have read all the responses a couple of times to get it all straight in my head. I think I have it now (이제). I hope. This reminds me of when I was trying to get ser and estar figured out and por and para when I studied spanish.

Anyways, thanks everyone, for all the info. I like the responsiveness of this forum. I am certain that I will be back with plenty of questions, as well as to read previous responses on others questions.
