hi! this is my first post ever!

just wondering.. for "how about..?"

korean has a few.. e.g. "Ottaeyo" and "eun/neunyo" and "Eulkkoya"

could they all be used for the same thing?

like.. Mcdonalds Ottaeyo? and Mcdonalds neunyo? and Mcdonalds Eulkkoya?

or is there a specific "how about" for every situation?

Welcome to the forum,

I am having a little trouble reading your romanization as I haven't learned to read it.

I am guessing you mean 어때요? and 은 는요? and 을까요 를까요?

They are different, however I could see some situations where they could be used in similar situations.

The first situation Mcdonalds 어때요? Is like how about Mcdonalds?

The second Mcdonalds 는요? Is like directing the conversation towards Mcdonalds. Maybe you were thinking of going to KFC, but you suggest Mcdonalds instead. So it could be translated as how about mcdonalds as well, depending on the context...

The last 을까요 를까요 is a bit strange because I think you need a verb, for example - Mcdonalds 같이 먹을까요? How about eating mcdonalds together?

While all these sentences can be translated similarly, I think there is a great deal of difference in nuance.

Hope that helps, Julia, manyakumi and Trutherous are some users who are a lot more knowledgeable than me, so hopefully they post and clarify more.

맥도날드 먹을까요? : saying your opinion.

If you say "맥도날드 먹을까요?", I will just say "그래요."
Because I guess you want to have it.
("맥도날드 먹을까요?" shows stronger opinion than "맥도날드 어때요?".

So I suggest you "맥도날드 어때요?" if you are in your first date.

has the same meaning with "How about Mcdonalds?"

In fact, it sounds little bit awkward to say 'a brand 먹을까요?' to native Koreans.
You'd better say 'a menu 먹을까요?' or 'a brand 갈까요?'

Sometimes, Korean say "broken Korean" without thinking. especially me.. hehe
such as 맥도날드(햄버거) 먹을까? , "스타벅스(커피) 마실까?"
Because we knew what we are talking about. *^^*
