bringing gifts

Hi all,

My friend and I were invited to a Korean family's house (just a husband and wife, both about 4 years older than us) for dinner and I thought it might be nice to bring a gift.

What might be something fairly standard and not too ostentatious to bring?

Like a whole box of korean pears or something.

You have known Korean well. wow
But we usually give that gift on New Years Day, Chuseok, and a BIG holiday.

What about a cake?
I used to bring a cake when I had the same situation.
And usually we have a cake together after a meal.

I suggest you "고구마 케익"( sweet potato cake). Both old and young people love this cake. A cake is not that big gift and we can have it for dessert together.( A host don't need to care for dessert, as well.)
