Lesson Transcript

Do you know how to say how to talk about transportation in Korean?
Welcome to Three Step Korean Practice by KoreanClass101.com. In this lesson, you will practice how to talk about transportation.
Let’s look at the main dialogue.
Two people are having a conversation about how long it will take to go somewhere.
얼마나 걸려요?
Eolmana geollyeoyo?
How long does it take?
45분 정도 걸려요. 지하철로 같이 갈래요?
Sasibo bun jeongdo geollyeoyo. Jihacheollo gachi gallaeyo?
It takes about 45 minutes. Shall we go together by subway?
미안하지만 저는 너무 피곤해요. 저는 택시로 갈 거예요.
Mianhajiman jeoneun neomu pigonhaeyo. Jeoneun taeksiro gal geoyeyo.
I'm sorry, but I'm really tired. I will go by taxi.
In this conversation, both people talked about how they would get to the destination. This person
Says 지하철로 같이 갈래요? (Jihacheollo gachi gallaeyo?). "Shall we go together by subway?" In this sentence, we have the word "지하철," (Jihacheol) followed by "~로" (~ro). This "~로" shows that 지하철 is being used as a means of transport in the sentence.
Then, this person
Says "저는 택시로 갈 거예요 (Jeoneun taeksiro gal geoyeyo)." I will go by taxi. Again, the word for taxi, "택시 (taeksi)" is followed by "~로 (~ro)" to mark it as the means of transport.
If the word ends in a consonant that isn't "~ㄹ (~l)," then "~으로" (~euro) is added instead.
Let’s practice with more transportation vocabulary in this lesson.
