| Two people are having a conversation. |
| 날씨가 더우니까 아이스크림 먹을까요? 민규 씨가 점심을 샀으니까, 제가 아이스크림을 사고 싶어요. |
| Nalssi ga deounikka aiseukeurim meogeul kkayo? Mingyu ssi ga jeomsimeul sasseunikka, jega aiseukeurimeul sago sipeoyo. |

| In this dialogue, we have two examples of conjugating a verb or adjective with "니까 (nikka)" or "으니까 (eunikka)." |
| First, we have "더우니까 (deounikka)." |
| This uses "니까," because "더우 (deou)" ends in a vowel. |
| Next is "샀으니까 (sasseunikka)." |
| This uses "으니까," because "샀 (sass)" ends in a consonant. |

| 샀으 is used here because the stem, 샀, ends in a consonant, so 으니까 is added. |
| Let's translate some sentences into Korean. |
| Translate "Since it’s hot, shall we eat ice cream?" into Korean. |

| 가 (ga). The subject marker. |

| 더우니까 (deounikka). Because it's hot. |

| 아이스크림 (aiseukeurim). Ice cream. |
| Lastly |
| 먹을까요 (meogeulkkayo)? Shall we eat? |
| The stem of "더우니까" ends with a consonant, so we use 니까. But 덥다 is an irregular ㅂ-adjective, which means the ㅂ changes to 우 before adding -니까. |

| Since it’s hot, shall we eat ice cream? |

| Translate "Since a guest is coming, I will make some food." into Korean. |
| 손님 (sonnim). "guest" |

| 이 (i). The subject marker |

| 오니까 (onikka). "Because (someone) is coming." The "someone" is implied, so it doesn't translate directly to the word "someone." |

| 음식 (eumsik). "food." |
| And then |
| 을 (eul). The object marker. |
| Followed by |
| 만들거예요 (mandeulgeoyeyo). Will make. |
| The stem of 오니까, "오 (o)," is a single vowel sound. So, it is conjugated with "니까 (nikka)." |
| 손님이 오니까 음식을 만들 거예요. (Sonnimi onikka eumsigeul mandeul geoyeyo.) |
| Since a guest is coming, I will make some food. |
| 손님이 오니까 음식을 만들 거예요. |
| Translate "Because it’s cold, please close the window." into Korean. |
| 추우니까 (chuunikka). "Because it's cold." |

| Lastly |
| 주세요 (juseyo). "Please do (for me)." This is the polite request form of 주다 (juda), "to give". |
| 추우니까 (chuunika)'s stem also ends with a vowel, so again, 니까 (nikka) is added. |
