Eric: In this lesson, you'll learn how to use a sentence pattern for discussing one's habits. |
PATTERN |
Eric: For example, |
Eric: "I study every day." |
Lyn: 공부를 매일 해요. (gongbureul maeil haeyo.) |
Lyn: [slow] 공부를 매일 해요. (gongbureul maeil haeyo.) |
Eric: The pattern for discussing one's habits has 4 elements. First, a noun, "study." |
Lyn: 공부 (gongbu). |
Eric: Second, an object-marking particle. |
Lyn: 를 (reul). |
Eric: Third, an adverb, "every day." |
Lyn: 매일 (maeil). |
Eric: And last, a verb, "to do." |
Lyn: 해요 (haeyo). |
Eric: Altogether, we have.. "I study every day." |
Lyn: 공부를 매일 해요. (gongbureul maeil haeyo.) [slow] 공부를 매일 해요. (gongbureul maeil haeyo.) [normal] 공부를 매일 해요. (gongbureul maeil haeyo.) |
Eric: When you tell others how often you do something, you can use an adverb for frequency. For example, you can use... |
Lyn: 매일 (maeil) |
Eric: meaning “every day” before the verb when you talk about your habits with others. |
Lyn: 공부를 매일 해요. (gongbureul maeil haeyo.) |
Eric: In a sentence, remember to add a frequency word between the subject and the verb when you’re talking about your habits. |
Eric: Here is another example meaning, "I swim every week." First, a noun "swim." |
Lyn: 수영 (suyeong). |
Eric: Second, an object-marking particle. |
Lyn: 을 (eul). |
Eric: Third, a noun, "every week." |
Lyn: 매주 (maeju). |
Eric: And last, a verb "to do." |
Lyn: 해요 (haeyo). |
Eric: Altogether we have.. |
