| Jaehwi: Hi everyone. I am Jaehwi. Welcome back to Korean Weekly Words. Let’s see what we have for this week. This week’s theme is clothes. Okay let’s see what we have. |
| The first word is 셔츠 (syeocheu) which means “shirt.” With that word, you can say 새로운 반팔셔츠를 사러 백화점에 갔습니다. (Saeroun banpalsyeocheureul sareo baekwajeome gatsseumnida.) which means “I went to a department store to buy a shirt with short sleeves.” So 반팔셔츠 (banpalsyeocheu) is for short sleeve and 셔츠 (syeocheu) usually means the shirt with long sleeves. |
| Okay next we have 바지 (baji) which means “pants.” With that word, you can say 학교에 가기 위해서 청바지를 입었습니다. (Hakgyoe gagi wihaeseo cheongbajireul ibeotsseumnida.) which means “I wore jeans to go to school.” So 청바지 (cheongbaji) is the word literally meaning “blue pants” or “jeans” and then you can use 입다 (ipda) “to wear” when you talk about pants. |
| Okay next we have 드레스 (deureseu) which means “dress.” With that word, you can say 웨딩 드레스를 사러 아현동에 갔습니다. (Weding deureseureul sareo ahyeondonge gatsseumnida.) which means “I went to Ahyeondong to buy a wedding dress.” It’s kind of the village that you can see wedding dress shops along the street. |
| Okay next we have 티셔츠 (tisyeocheu) which means “T-shirt.” With that word, you can say 안 입는 티셔츠를 버릴 예정입니다. (An imneun tisyeocheureul beoril yejeongimnida.) which means “I am going to throw away T-shirts that I don’t wear anymore.” |
| Next we have 스웨터 (seuweteo) which means “sweater.” With that word, you can say 어머니가 나에게 스웨터를 만들어 줬습니다. (Eomeoniga naege seuweteoreul mandeureo jwotsseumnida.) which means “My mom made me a sweater.” |
