Jaehwi: Hi everyone. I am Jaehwi. Welcome back to Korean Weekly Words. This week’s theme is tableware. Okay let’s see what we have about this theme.
Okay the first word is 접시 (jeopsi) meaning “plate.” With that word, you can say (Sonnimeul daejeopagi wihaeseo jeopsie eumsigeul damatsseumnida.) which means “I put food on the plate to treat my guest.”
Next we have 국자 (gukja) meaning “ladle.” With that word, you can say (Gukjaro gimchijjigaereul peoseo chingudeurege jwotsseumnida.) which means “I scooped Kimchi soup by a ladle and gave it to my friends.”
Okay next we have 물컵 (mulkeop) which means “drinking glass.” 물 (mul) means “water,” 컵 means “cup.” So it literally means a cup for water. With that word, you can say (Mulkeobeul nochyeoseo mulkeobi kkaejyeotsseumnida.) which means “I dropped a drinking glass. So the drinking glass got broken.”
피쳐 (pichyeo) which means “pitcher” for beer. So you can say (Jeoneun maekju pichyeoreul ne gae jeongdo masil su iseotsseumnida.) which means “I could drink four pitchers of beer.” in the past, not anymore though.
머그잔 (meogujan) which means “coffee mug.” With that word, you can say (Jeoneun ilhoeyong keopboda meogeujane keopireul masineun geoseul joahamnida.) which means “I prefer drinking coffee in a mug to drinking coffee in a paper cup.”
End okay that’s all for this week. I will see you next week. (Daeum sigane boepgetsseumnida.) (Annyeonghi gyeseyo.)
