Hello, I'm Seung-hye Yeo.
Everyone, do you like animals? As for me, I have always adored animals so much
since I was a little kid. And I have actually had a few pet dogs as well. Nevertheless,
I had never been to a zoo before! But finally, today, although it was for my biology
homework, I was able to go to a zoo, a place I had always wanted to go.
I went to a big zoo in Japan with a classmate. We went to see white-handed gibbon
monkeys, which were the topic of our assignment. One monkey was moving from
this tree to that one using its long arms, and another monkey was sitting with its
back toward us near the glass window. Since there were only two of them in the
small cage, I had a feeling that it wasn't sufficient for our assignment, but I went
ahead and took photos of the inside of the cage and the monkeys to do our
assignment. And I asked someone passing by and had a photo taken of us two
together as a souvenir.
Happy that we accomplished our goal, we started walking toward the polar bears
whose white fur was supposed to be very charming. There were two polar bears in
the cage, but maybe because I was expecting too much, I was disappointed in the
polar bears that were not so white and even looked a little bit shabby. The two polar
bears kept letting out soft cries that I could barely hear and kept moving around the
same spot. For an instant, I felt sorry for them. I guess it must be more comfortable
for them to live in the zoo than in the wild, but are they really happy in the little cage?
I had never thought badly of zoos before, but since I saw the animals that were
actually trapped in the cage, I don't feel very comfortable about it. But it was still an
amazing and an enjoyable experience to be able to see animals that I had only seen
on TV. What do you think? For some reason, I can say neither that I hate it nor that I
like it. Well then, have another great day, and I will see you soon.

I don't understand this lesson all.
Who is 승혜 and where does she come from?
cool...thanks for the translation!
i did copy of that text's translation. it will be understand to easy

Actually there are a lot of parts that I don't understand at all. Hope there will be some full translation.
wow..it's a very long passage..
I think e passage is about the writer (여승혜) talking about her/his experience in zoo i guess.
I think the writer is talking about he/she likes animals when young. The middle part I don't really understand. Then the last part of the first paragraph seems to be talking about the writer went to the zoo due to some schoolwork.
And the second paragraph is talking about the monkeys the writer and friends saw and the actions done by the monkeys.
The third paragraph is about the polar bear (i guess) and i think some action of the polar bears made the writer think whether the animals that lived in the zoo are feeling happy??
Then the last paragraph is asking for our opinions.
Is there anyone who can give a full translation of the passage?? I'm not sure if mine is correct..
well, i really dont understand those hangeul.
what is that mean?
