Hi, everyone, welcome back to Korean Weekly Words. I'm Jaehwi, in this video we'll be talking about what adjective describes your personality best. Ok, let's begin!
1. 똑똑한 (ttokttokan) "smart"
So you can use this adjective as in,
저 사람은 참 똑똑하다.(Jeo sarameun cham ttokttokada.) "That person is smart.”
Or you can also say something like,
난 내가 참 똑똑하다고 생각해. (Nan naega cham ttokttokhadago saenggakae.) "I think I am really smart."
2. 감성적인 (gamseongjeoin) "emotional"
I’m kind of emotional, so whenever I reader novel or see a movie, I became so emotional, in that case I can say,
영화를 보면 감성적이 됩니다. (Yeonghwareul bomyeon gamseongjeogi doemnida.) "When I see a movie, I become emotional."
Keep crying, so I couldn't read the characters.
3. 멋진 (meotjin) "cool"
그 사람 진짜 멋져.(Geu saram jinjja meotjjeo.)"That person is really cool.”
And when you see someone cool, you can just, you know, thumbs up toward him or her, you know, say,
멋져요.(Meotjjeoyo.) "You are cool."
4. 정직한 (jeongjikan) "honest"
나는 정직한 사람과 결혼하고 싶다. (Naneun jeongjikan saramgwa gyeolhonhago sipda.) meaning ”I want to marry someone honest."
5. 게으른 (geeureun) "lazy"
This is, I feel like I'm getting lazy, so in this case I can say,
요즘 들어서 점점 게을러지는 것 같습니다. (Yojeum deureoseo jeomjeom geeulleojineun geot gatsseumnida.) which means that ”I think I am getting lazy these days."
You know, like, on weekends, I'm usually just laying on the floor.
6. 수줍은 (sujubeun) "shy"
I'm kind of shy.
처음 보는 사람을 만나면 수줍어합니다. (Cheoeum boneun sarameul mannamyeon sujubeohamnida.) which means that ”I become shy when I meet someone new for the first time."
7. 로맨틱한 (romaentikan) "romantic"
When you watch Korean drama, you can see a lot of characters are romantic, in that case we can say,
저 남자 주인공은 참 로맨틱하다. (Jeo namja juingongeun cham romaentikada.) meaning ”That main actor is very romantic."
8. 심각한 (simgakan) "serious"
You can describe me as
저 사람은 진짜 심각한 사람이야. (Jeo sarameun jinjja simgakhan saramiya.) "He is a really serious guy."
That's what I have to overcome but I become so serious sometimes.
9. 다정한 (dajeonghan) "friendly"
So here we have the word 다정(dajeong), which has two Chinese characters; 다(da) is ”many”, and 정(jeong) is something like ”attachment, sympathy”. So it means something like who has a lot of sympathy, who has a lot of things to give, things to share with other person. So you can, you know, translat it as “friendly”, saying
우리 어머니는 참 다정한 사람이다.(Uri eomeonineun cham dajeonghan saramida.) which means that "My mother is a very friendly person.”
나는 다정한 사람을 만나고 싶어. (Naneun dajeonghan sarameul mannago sipeo.) "I want to meet someone friendly."
10. 괴팍한 (goepakan) "bad-tempered"
So any word starting with 괴 (goe) means something like "weird”, something strange, because that's what this Chinese character mean, “strange” and “weird”.
저 사람은 정말 괴팍한 사람이야. (Jeo sarameun jeongmal goepakan saramiya.) means “He or she is really bad-tempered."
11. 관대한 (gwandaehan) "generous"
When I was in college, I remember one senior who was very 관대한 (gwandaehan) "generous”, if someone makes mistake she was right haha, it's okay, human being, you know, anyone can make a mistake. In that case you can say something like 관대한 (gwandaehan), for example,
내 선배는 관대한 사람입니다.(Nae seonbaeneun gwandaehan saramimnida.) meaning ”My senior is a generous person.”
나는 관대한 사람이 되고 싶다.(Naneun gwandaehan sarami doego sipda.) meaning "I want to be a generous person."
12. 예술적인 (yesuljeogin) "artistic"
So here we have the word 예술 (yesul) meaning "art"
그 사람은 예술적인 사람이야. (Geu sarameun yesuljeogin saramiya.) "That person is artistic."
13. 예의바른 (yeuibareun) "polite"
so here we have the word 예의 (yeui) meaning "politeness”, and 바른 (bareun) means something ”right”, “correct”. So it means some something like someone who has the right politeness.
예의바른 (yeuibareun) "polite"
부모님들은 아이들을 예의바르게 키우기 위해서 최선을 다했습니다. (Bumonimdeureun aideureul yeuibareuge kiugi wihaeseo choeseoneul dahaetsseumnida.) “Parents tried their best to raise their kids to be polite."
14. 우유부단한 (uyubudanhan) "indecisive"
So using the word you can say something like,
나는 우유부단한 사람과 결혼하고 싶지 않다. (Naneun uyubudanhan saramgwa gyeolhonhago sipji anta. ) which means ”I don't want to marry someone who is indecisive."
15. 친절한 (chinjeolhan) "kind"
친절한 사람이 손해를 보다.(Chinjeolhan sarami sonhaereul boda.) which means that "Someone who is kind suffers losses.”
You know, some people are trying to use their kindness for their own benefit.
일본 사람들 중에는 친절한 사람들이 많이 있습니다. (Ilbon saramdeul jungeneun chinjeolhan saramdeuri mani itsseumnida.) "Among Japanese people, there are a lot of kind people.”
