| 1. 그냥 내가 말하는 대로 해. (Geunyang naega malhaneun daero hae.) "Just do what I say." |
| So if you keep asking like 이거 뭐예요?(Igeo mwoyeyo?) 저게 뭐예요?(jeoge mwoyeyo?) then your supervisor might say 그냥 내가 말하는 대로 해. (Geunyang naega malhaneun daero hae.) "Just do what I say." just do what I say. |
| 2. 나는 한국어를 배울 준비가 안 됐어. (Naneun hangugeoreul baeul junbiga an dwaesseo.) "I'm not ready to learn Korean." |
| There are many people who just keep saying that. |
| 한국어를 배울 준비가 안 됐어. (Hangugeoreul baeul junbiga an dwaesseo.) "I'm not ready to learn Korean." |
| There is no time – no right time to do something like that. |
| 3. 난 더 이상 아무것도 배울 필요가 없어. (Nan deo isang amugeotdo baeul piryoga eopsseo.) "I don't need to learn anything anymore." |
| I think it just means that I don’t want to, not I don’t need to. If someone says 난 더 이상 아무것도 배울 필요가 없어. (Nan deo isang amugeotdo baeul piryoga eopsseo.) I think that means that 난 더 이상 배우고 싶지 않아. (Nan deo isang baeugo sipji ana.) “I just don’t want to learn something new.” |
| 4. 난 맞고 넌 틀렸어. (Nan matgo neon teullyeosseo.) "I am right, and you are wrong." |
| Well, there might be some chances that I am right and you are wrong; but if some people just keep saying that, I don’t think that person is smart, yeah. |
| 5. 난 모든 걸 알아. (Nan modeun geol ara.) "I know everything." |
| Here we have 모든 걸 (modeun geol) which means “everything”. In the other way, some people also say 난 다 알아 (Nan da ara) “I know everything” with the same meaning, but I think if someone says 난 모든 걸 알아 (Nan modeun geol ara) or 난 다 알아 (Nan da ara). I think it means 난 아무것도 몰라 (Nan amugeotdo molla) “I don’t know anything”. |
| 6. 너는 절대 성공하지 못 할거야. (Neoneun jeoldae seonggonghaji mot halgeoya.) "You will never succeed." |
| Here we have the verb 성공하다(seonggonghada) meaning “to succeed”, and here we have the adverb 절대(jeoldae) meaning “never”. I don’t like people using never often, 절대(jeoldae). So there might be some chances that people change their attitude, people do something else. So who knows? You don’t know anything about the future. |
| 7. 너무 어려워. 시도도 하지 마. (Neomu eoryeowo. Sidodo haji ma.) "It's too hard, don't even try." |
| With the same meaning, you can say 너무 어려워. 꿈도 꾸지 마. (Neomu eoryeowo. Kkumdo kkuji ma.) “it’s too hard, don’t even dream about it.” In the past, like, I can see many people who are encouraging the others. Instead, I think you can say 시도해 봐 (Sidohae bwa) “Try it” or 한번 해 봐 (Hanbeon hae bwa) “Do it.” Just do it! |
| 8. 너는 별로 똑똑하지 않아. (Neoneun byeollo ttokttokaji ana.) "You are not very smart." |
| Looking down the other people and saying 넌 별로 똑똑하지 않아 (Neon byeollo ttokttokaji ana) “you are not very smart”. |
| 9. 네 조언은 필요 없어. (Ne joeoneun piryo eopsseo.) "I don't need your advice." |
| So here we have the noun 조언(joeon) meaning “advice”. So sometimes it’s okay to use it but if it’s really good advice, it’s, you know, just listen to them. |
| 10. 우리는 그것을 할 수 없어. (Urineun geugeoseul hal su eopsseo. ) "We can't do that." |
| Or more naturally you can say 우린 그거 할 수 없어. (Uin geugeo hal su eopsseo.) "We can't do that." |
| If you want to encourage the other people, the other people in the same group, you can in the opposite way say 우린 그거 할 수 있어. (Urin geugeo hal su isseo.) “We can do that.” |
