The pattern "라고"?

Postby fadilsofia_231157 » July 1st, 2016 1:53 pm

안녕하세요,
I have a question please regarding the pattern "라고" .
Sometimes I find this "이강토라고 합니다" to say "I am Lee Kang To" for example, and sometimes it's only "이강토 입니다".
what does "라고" refers to ? where it is used ?

Many thanks !
By the way , I like this forum very much ! The team is very reactive !

Hi Sofia,

Thanks for posting. '~라고' means '(is/am) called'. So if you say, I am called~~, then you would say, '~라고 합니다'.
If you wanted to just say, I am (my name is) ~~, you would say, '~입니다'.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Best,
Lyn
