using 2 different verbs in a sentence

Postby johnsonroberts4492374 » March 25th, 2014 1:49 pm

I know how to translate the following sentence to korean.

you went to japan - 너는 일본에 갔어요

but if the the sentence has two verbs,
for example
I heard you went to japan for holiday

In the above sentence, the two verbs are to hear and to go, both in past tense.
I am not sure of how do I tranlsate it.
please advice. thanks

Hello Johnson,

In that case, you can use the particle -고 between two verbs.

For example,

You can say.. 너는 일본에 휴가를 갔다 + 고+ 나는 들었다.

The first sentence means 'You went to Japan for a holiday' and the second one means 'I heard.' Between them, you can use the particle 고 to connect them.

I hope this helps.

Thank you,
Jae
