I had a friend who, when asked how he learned to speak Korean, would say "One day I was eating Kimchi and then all of a sudden I could speak Korean!"
And yeah, thats funny. But what was even funnier is that most Koreans would pause for a second to think about it. A few would even say "REALLY?!?"
Thats the power of Kimchi.
It cures bird flu.
I'm not even sure how this relates to this post. I guess he noticed that he would get asked that all the time, so he needed a "stock" answer. A handy phrase, like "sorry for my poor Korean" that you can whip out without even thinking about it.
I'm shy about speaking Korean unless its to a really good friend, and even then only if they don't speak English to well so I don't feel bad about my Korean. But I used to say "한국말 잘 못 해사 점 챙피 해요."
