Meaning of 둬?

This is the exact case I mentioned to Cheri, (or somebody else maybe): the main verb (본동사)and the assisting verb (보조동사), the first verb having the main idea and the second adding more to the main verb.

들어 (main verb) 두다 (assisting verb)

두다; 【보조동사assisting verb】have;get;let;allow;keep;leave
그대로 놓아 두어라 Leave it as it is.
나는 창문을 열어 두어라 Leave the window open.

Basically, 들어 hear and 두다 keep or place (in your brain).

You will see a lot of this pattern of verb.

Even adjective in predicate has main and assisting adjective, like 그림이 이쁘게 되었다

Verb + 두다
This form makes the nuance of "for the future(later)".

이거 지금 먹어.
> Eat this now.
이거 지금 먹어 둬.
> Eat this now. (or you'll be hungry soon)

잘 들어.
> Listen carefully.
잘 들어 둬.
> Listen carefully. (It'll be good for you later)

가방을 책상에 놓으세요.
> Put your bag on the desk.
가방을 책상에 놓아 두세요.
> Put your bag on the desk. (and keep it there)
