question about titles...

Postby slackwell » October 17th, 2008 2:43 am

Okay, so this goes back to the whole "finding the right word for 'you' in Korean," but I need some help. I'm potentially going to be tutoring a Korean student, and I've talked with her mother before (in Korean) - but I haven't known how to address the mother (eg. "how about you?"). If it helps clarify the situation, she's likely about 20 years older than me. :) If someone could help me with this... :?

In that case, you'd better say as '어머님' or '(student's name) 어머님'.

How about you?
어머님은 어떠세요?

What do you think?
어머님 생각은 어떠세요?

If the student's name is 성희(ends with vowel) : 성희 어머님

If the student's name is 지윤(ends with consonant) : 지윤이 어머님
