Happy with subscription?

Postby MizzShellyMay » September 14th, 2009 3:52 am

So I'm very serious about learning Korean (although I don't have as much free time as I would like to study it) and I was wondering if people were happy with their choice to subscribe to this website. If you are, have you been able to use what you learned & found the site did a good job of teaching you the language?

Also, did you accept the offer when first signing up to get the free cd's and all of that? If so, are you happy with that choice/did it aid in learning in a significant way? (Just to be sure you didn't get spam mail or have anything bad happen if you did accept the offer?).

Thanks so much!

Well, the lessons are pretty awesome. I've really learned a lot, and I mean, A LOT, during July and August. I basically spent a day or two on each lesson. If you don't have time, just put them on your ipod and take the audio on the go. My ipod has been broken, and i'm getting it back very soon, so I haven't tested it, but I'm pretty sure listening on your ipod helps a lot. Karaoke subtitling is very time-consuming, but it accelerates your listening ability very fast.

I was disappointed because I thought they said DVD. But I mean, it was a little helpful. It was nothing more than what I already had though, so I wouldn't really recommend to buy it when you can just download using iTunes or another podcast program.

Perhaps the best out there

I don't have much time myself, but of what little that i've been able to experience, so far it seems to be the best place to learn if not one of the best. Good luck to ya!

The lessons and lesson notes provided by KC101 seem to be one of the best sources for learning Korean available. Most other resources teaches Korean in a very rigid and textbook-like format that isn't entirely transferable to real-life conversational situations. The KC101 lessons are very easy to follow and sort of fun. I just returned from Korea a week ago and what I learned from KC101 was very useful, though my spoken Korean is a poor, the audio lessons greatly enhanced my listening comprehension ability.

I bought premium in increasing incements at first 1 month, then 3, now a year.

err I wouldn't pay full price though just to get the cd. They have some many sales on all the time, I would rather save 25% -50% and forgo the CDs.

lessons notes, review tracks, and the premium learning centre's extra audio are all a big help.

It's definitely worth it, the university I attended where I am studying Korean is very expensive, a tutor would cost about $8 an hour which is the same price here for a month! the main thing is, as with studying anything, the more time you put into it the more you will get out of it.

I'm premium since July 28, 2009 to July 28, 2011, and I've finished beginner lessons 1, tomorrow I'll start with Season 2. I'm really happy and I learned a lot, the learning center is great, not only exercises but also the dictionary with audio. The pdf I found it really useful because I am Spanish and even understand the whole English audio sometimes the explanations escape me, and in pdf things get much clearer because they can extend with examples.
I hear the audio files while I go to University or gym by bike, even when I take out the dog for a walk, I hear all the time, every time I go to walk ...
And Revison are very useful when you don't need the audio track, just to review.
I really recommend KC101!!!

but...
I don't know what you mean by the cds. Can anyone explain?

Thanks for all the responses! It sounds like subscribing would definitely be a good decision then.

To ukkki: I was referring to the offer when you originally sign up *it says it's your only time to get the offer* where you can get some cd's (etc) shipped to you & you just have to pay the shipping cost.

I would say that the teachers and content are first rate. I was skeptical at first. Before signing up I had seen numerous sites of this sort, and wondered whether or not the quality would be good. I was also concerned that the content would just stop at some point in the future. Well, that was over a year ago. And I can say that I have learned a tremendous amount in that time.

I would recommend at least getting basic subscription. You can get an unbelievable amount of material out of the pdf’s.

I was lucky enough to win a premium subscription from a competition earlier this year, and I have been really happy with it. I have learnt a lot, and the lessons are a lot of fun to listen to. The people are also really nice and are very willing to help you out, which is a bonus.

In my opinion, the one thing I feel it doesn't really give (obviously) is conversational experience and practice. Since I started learning, my reading, writing and listening have left my speaking in the dust. I'm lucky enough now to have Korean friends and to be going to Korean Sunday school in order to practice SOME speaking more. It's great that I can understand more and write more, however I do feel that speaking is the most important out of the four aspects, and I do wish I somehow had more opportunities to practice. I'm not sure how KC101 would integrate this more, but that's just my opinion on my experiences with it thus far.

Also, in comparison to other podcasts out there, I definitely think KC101 is much better than them. Much more professional. :)

I agree with Alexis on the speaking part...

But in my experience speaking is really only learnt well person-to-person. Even Skype doesn't seem to cut it for me...

I've been a Premium member for nearly 2 years now. I like the My Feed that you can download your iPod...
