I have a fairly good background in Mandarin and Japanese. Although I consider myself to be only a lower intermediate reader in those languages, I know thousands of characters. I took a glance at the most common 100 hanja, and I know them really well, so I suspect I know at least several hundred if not over 1000 hanja well. I've only been studying Korean for about a month, so I don't know their pronunciations. I took a look at a site that teaches hanja for people with zero knowledge. They teach how to draw the character, and give a list of words it's used in. Imo, that's not a very effective method for me. I'd be memorising pronunciations and words out of context, which never stick well in my experience.
Knowing this information about me, how do you suggest I use hanja to help me learn? Should I check to see if my new vocabulary has hanja associated with it, and if so, how?
