Suits and pools...two questions

Postby tkmayfie » July 23rd, 2010 6:41 am

서울 안에 다음주 8월 20일 까 지. 서울대 한국어를 공부해거에요.

Ill be in Seoul for three weeks studying Korean in August, two questions.

Are there any places to swim like public pools or gyms that I can go to? I need to keep my swimming fitness up because I will be attending a Marine Corps school in the near future. I will be staying in Gwanak-Gu by Seoul National where I will be studying.

Also, I have heard that there are places to get a custom made suit for yourself in Korea for cheap. I heard that the places to look are 동대문 시장 과 남대문 시장 Dongdaemun and Namdaemun. Any tips!?!?!?

Thank you!!

Hello tkmayfie,

:P

You are really visiting Korea!
"Great!"

Be careful though! It's very hot in Korea.

I don't know about many swimming pools or gyms in Seoul but,
I do know about one thing! - You HAVE TO GO "Caribbean Bay" in Yong in city.
It's the largest swimming pool in Korea and I think... in the world (maybe not...)

You can have so much fun at there.
My new lesson - Absolute Beginner Season 2 Lesson 9 - will talk about Caribbean Bay in Korea. Gotta listen to it, tkmayfie!
best,

Hi tkmayfie, nice to meet you;

Ok it looks like you can read/write a little Hangul, and you want to know about swimming pools in Seoul Korea? Well pardon the pun - but it's "sink or swim time"

Here is an answer to your question and a great Korean practice for you:

Go to this website http://www.naver.com/

And in the search box at the very top type in 서울 수영장 then click the "검색" (search) button to the right -or just hit enter- then follow the links that come up. Here is a sample: sample

Of course you will probably be carrying around a phone with Internet connectivity, but another thing you might want to do is familiarize yourself with a map of Seoul before you go -- make use of the online resources, both regular map and satellite.

As for the custom tailored suits: Well... yes you can get a really great deal at the market you mention but don't be expecting that the Won-to-Dollar ratio is still like it was back in the days after the Korean War - you may be shocked to find out that many things are also expensive in Korea.
