Appropriate Summer clothing

Postby turpie » June 16th, 2010 1:31 am

Hi Everyone,
I need some advice on appropriate clothing to wear in summer in Korea.
I am part of a group coming to Korea in July. We will have adults and kids with us.
What I would like to know is what is acceptable to wear in summer?

Can our adults get away with wearing shorts?
Can our young teen girls wear singlets or sleaveless tops?
Will it make a difference whether we are in Seoul or Muju?

Thanks,
Paul Turpie

I think you can pretty much wear any style you want but I would definitely make an umbrella part of your ensemble.

:o

Visiting Korea with a number of people!? WOW~~~!! :o
First where are you guys from?
I really don't think you guys would have any problem with clothes.
Just wear clothes as you like...
But if you have a business meeting or something very important meeting, it's important to wear a suit first time. Other than that, wearing casual clothes is fine for adults and kids.

One thing you must be aware of though...
Korea is pertty hot and very humid, very humid!!!
As long as you are aware of that, your group will have no problem visiting Korea.

So.. you guys are visiting Seoul and Muju?
Muju for sightseeing?

I don't want you to re-schedule but, I really do have a recommendation for your group; especially for kids. When kids having fun, family are also having fun, right?
I know a place that kids will fall in love with. You guys too.
The name of place is 애버랜드 - 캐리비안 베이. Everland - Caribbean Bay.
For further info, take a look at www.everland.com/caribbean.
Kids will love this place; even I do love that place.
I hope I did help you some.
Have a good time in Korea! :P
best,

Hi Tim and trutherous,
Thanks for the help.
Our group is going to the World Taekwondo Culture Expo in Muju during the first week of July. We are from Australia where summer clothing is pretty casual with shorts and t-shirts the norm.
At our last training session one of the leaders was telling two of the teenage girls that they wouldn't be able to wear singlets, sleaveless tops, and short skirts or pants.
When I was in Korea last it was winter so this wasn't an issue, also as we will be out of Seoul I wasn't sure if other areas would be more conservative.
Although our summers get up to 40C south eastern Australia doesn't get too humid most of the time, so I wanted to know what we could wear that would be comfortable while still being respectful of local standards.

Thanks again guys for your help.
