INTRODUCTION
Keith: A Misunderstanding. 이거 한국말로 뭐라고 말해요?
Seol: 오해
Yujin: 하지만 대부분 ‘오해하다’라고 얘기하거나 그건 ‘오해예요’라고 얘기해요.
Keith: 그런데 드라마 같은 거 보면요 오해가 되게 많죠?
Seol: 너무 많아요.
Keith: 너무 많아요?
Seol: 항상 오해하고 사과하고.
Keith: 재미있잖아요. 오해 있으면.
Yujin: 하지만 답답해요.
Keith: 원래 그렇잖아요 한국 드라마가.
Seol: 한국 드라마 재밌어요.
Yujin: 오해 때문에 재밌는 거 같아요. 답답해 하면서 봐요.
Keith: So maybe this is the turning point of the story because there is a misunderstanding. Okay so 오늘의 대화는 뭐에 대해서 말하는 거예요?
Yujin: 아, 오늘은 지갑을 잃어버린 소연씨가 지갑을 주기로 한 민호씨를 기다리고 있어요.
Keith: 처음으로 만나니깐 좃댓말 쓰는 거죠?
Yujin: 그렇죠. 모르는 사람에게는 처음에 한국어는 존댓말로 시작한답니다.
DIALOGUE
Keith: Okay. So let’s get into this.
(1)민호: 여보세요?
(2)소연: 안녕하세요. 저 김소연인데요, 지금 도서관 앞이에요.
(3)민호: 아, 잠시만 기다리세요.
(4)소연: 아... 왜 아직도 안 오지?
(5)인성: 어? 아직도 안 가셨어요?
(6)소연: 어, 안녕하세요. 30분 기다렸는데... 지갑 주운 사람이 아직 안 오시네요.
(7)인성: 정말요? 진짜 나쁜 사람이네. 전화해 보세요!
(8)소연: 아, 괜찮아요. 기다릴 수 있어요.
(9)민호: 어! 인성아!
(10)인성: 어? 민호야! 공부해?
(11)민호: 어, 숙제 해. 이 분은 ... 친구?
(12)인성: 어? 아, 아니야. 이 분은... 우리 학교 학생은 아니고, 아까 처음 만났어.
(13)민호: 아, 안녕하세요! 반갑습니다. 유민호라고 합니다. (인성이에게) 야, 진짜 예쁘다.
(14)소연: 네?
(15)민호: 아, 아니에요. 아무것도.
(16)인성: 근데 너는 왜 나왔어?
(17)민호: 어? 아! 맞다. 이 지갑 때문에...
(18)소연: 어!? 그거 제 지갑이에요!
(19)민호: 네? 진짜요? 그럼 그쪽이 김소연 씨?
(20)인성: 뭐야.. 그럼 니가 그 나쁜 사람이었어?
(21)민호: 무슨 말이야?
Seol: 영어로 한 번 더
(1)민호: 여보세요?
Keith: Hello?
(2)소연: 안녕하세요. 저 김소연인데요, 지금 도서관 앞이에요.
Keith: Hello. I’m Kim Soyeon. I'm in front of the library.
(3)민호: 아, 잠시만 기다리세요.
Keith: Oh, ok. Just wait a little bit.
(4)소연: 아... 왜 아직도 안 오지?
Keith: Why isn’t he coming yet?
(5)인성: 어? 아직도 안 가셨어요?
Keith: Oh, you didn’t leave yet?
(6)소연: 어, 안녕하세요. 30분 기다렸는데... 지갑 주운 사람이 아직 안 오시네요.
Keith: Oh hello. I've been waiting thirty minutes, but the person that picked up my wallet didn’t come yet.
(7)인성: 정말요? 진짜 나쁜 사람이네. 전화해 보세요!
Keith: Really? What a bad person. Call him.
(8)소연: 아, 괜찮아요. 기다릴 수 있어요.
Keith: Oh, it’s ok. I can wait.
(9)민호: 어! 인성아!
Keith: Oh, Inseong!
(10)인성: 어? 민호야! 공부해?
Keith: Oh, Minho! Are you studying?
(11)민호: 어, 숙제 해. 이 분은 ... 친구?
Keith: Yeah, I'm doing my homework. This person’s a friend?
(12)인성: 어? 아, 아니야. 이 분은... 우리 학교 학생은 아니고, 아까 처음 만났어.
Keith: Uh? Oh, no. This person... she's not a student at our school. I met her for the first time a little while ago.
(13)민호: 아, 안녕하세요! 반갑습니다. 유민호라고 합니다. (인성이에게) 야, 진짜 예쁘다.
Keith: Oh, hello! It’s nice to meet you. I'm Yu Minho. (to Inseong) Hey... she's really pretty!
(14)소연: 네?
Keith: Excuse me?
(15)민호: 아, 아니에요. 아무것도.
Keith: Oh no, it’s nothing.
(16)인성: 근데 너는 왜 나왔어?
Keith: So why did you come out?
(17)민호: 어? 아! 맞다. 이 지갑 때문에...
Keith: Oh, that’s right! Because of this wallet...
(18)소연: 어!? 그거 제 지갑이에요!
Keith: Oh! That's my wallet!
(19)민호: 네? 진짜요? 그럼 그쪽이 김소연 씨?
Keith: What? Really? Then you're Kim Soyeon?
(20)인성: 뭐야.. 그럼 니가 그 나쁜 사람이었어?
Keith: What ... then you were that bad person?
(21)민호: 무슨 말이야?
Keith: What are you talking about?

Keith: 설, 어땠어요?
Seol: 길었어요. 길었지만 재밌었어요. 저는 민호 싫어요.
Keith: 민호 싫어요? 왜요?
Seol: 민호 예쁜 사람만 좋아하잖아요.
Keith: 설도 그렇잖아요.
Seol: 네. 민호는 나쁜 사람이고 그래도 설이는 좋은 사람이에요.
Keith: 좋은 사람? 근데 예쁜 사람만 좋아하는 사람.
Seol: 네
Yujin: 동의할 수 없어요.
VOCAB LIST
Keith: All right. So let’s get into the vocab. First word we have is
Seol: 아까
Keith: A short time before. 다른 거 또 있죠? Before로 쓰는 거요?
Yujin: 네 또 전에.
Keith: 아까랑 전에는 그 차이가 뭐예요?
Yujin: 전에는 언제인지 모르지만 이전에 전에라는 표현이지만 아까는 조금 전에 그러니까 시간이 많이 안 흐른거죠.
Seol: 바로 전에, 15분 전에, 20분 전에는 아까. 1시간 전, 일주일 전, 1년 전, 전에.
Keith: 1시간 전은 아까 될 수도 있지 않아요?
Seol: 맞아요.
Yujin: 네.
Keith: So 사람마다 틀리죠?
Yujin: 그렇죠.
Keith: 그래서 오해도 생길 수도 있죠?
Seol: 네.
Yujin: 그럼요.
Keith: 가끔. All right. So it’s a short time before 15, 20 maybe an hour, depends on the person. And yeah, there can be some misunderstandings. Okay let’s have a couple of example sentences.
Seol: 유진, 나랑 밥 먹으러 갈래?
Yujin: 나 아까 먹었어.
Keith: I ate just before.
Yujin: Keith, 설이 봤어요?
Keith: 아까 봤어요. I just saw her before. Okay our next word is
Seol: 맞다
Keith: To be correct. 근데 다른 뜻으로 쓸 때도 있죠?
VOCAB AND PHRASE USAGE
Yujin: 네, ‘맞다’하면은 ‘아, 너 맞았어.’라고도 얘기하지만 ‘나 설이한테 맞았어.’라고 말할 때는 설이가 주먹으로 저를 때려서 제가 맞은게 되는 거예요.
Keith: 그래서 어렸을 때는 맞아본 적이 많아요? 부모님한테?
Yujin: 아니요. 우리 부모님 너무 좋으신 분이였답니다.
Keith: 설은 많이 맞았죠?
Seol: 네, 저는 말썽쟁이여서 많이 맞았어요.
Keith: Yeah me too. Well 맞다 is to be correct or also to get hit. And this is used quite frequently actually. In the conversation, we had 근데 너는 왜 나왔어?
Seol: 아! 맞다. 지갑 때문에. 지갑 주려고.
Keith: So 아! 맞다 oh that’s right, I forgot. So you use it in that context a lot. 뭐 다른데는요?
Seol: 여기에 나온 건 아니지만 옷을 사러 갔을 때라든지 쇼핑을 할 때 옷이나 신발 사이즈가 나한테 딱 맞는 경우가 있어요.
Keith: So it’s right. It fits just right. Okay so let’s have a couple of example sentences for to be right.
Yujin: 내 말이 맞아.
Keith: My words are correct. My words are right and you use this when you are saying, you see, didn’t I just say that? Okay 상대방이 맞을 때는요?
Seol: 그래 너 말이 맞아.
Keith: So your words are correct. Yeah, what you said was right. Okay and what about to get hit?
Seol: 아, 언니 이것 봐. 나 Keith한테 맞았어.
Keith: 됐거든요?
Seol: Can you see this? I got a bruise.
Keith: I got hit by some guy named 키스 not Keith and I got hit. So 맞다 to get hit. All right, let’s move on to our grammar point. 오늘의 grammar point가 뭐예요?
Seol: 아직 안
Keith: And this is used for didn’t yet. So how do we make this construction?
Seol: 어? 벌써 오후 3시네. 나 아직 밥 안 먹었어.
Keith: I still didn’t eat and when you want to emphasize, how do you emphasize 강조는 어떻게 해요?
Yujin: 이럴 때 사용하는데요. 30분이나 기다렸는데도 아직도 안 오네.
Keith: So she added 도 right after 아직. So that’s when you are emphasizing. In the conversation we had
Seol: 왜 아직도 안 오지?
Keith: Why didn’t he come yet? Literally why yet not come, why didn’t he come yet? Next in the conversation we had
Yujin: 아직도 안 가셨어요?
Keith: Yet not go. You didn’t go yet.
Seol: 지갑 주운 사람이 아직 안 오시네요.
Keith: The person that picked up my wallet, yet not come. Didn’t come yet.

Keith: Okay that’s going to do for today. See you.
Seol: Bye, bye.
Yujin: Bye.
