~래요 and ~고 싶어요

From what I known
밥을 먹고 싶어요? and 밥을 먹을 래요?
Both sort of have the same meaning of Do you want to eat rice?
I am confused when should I use ~래요 and when should I use ~고 싶어요 as both have almost the same meaning of do you want ~?
Please advice.

Hi John,
Both means the same, but people use -래요 more in a daily conversation and 싶어요 in written Korean as 래요 sounds softer and more friendly.
