오 in Seoul dialect

Hello,

I have noticed that in Seoul dialect people very seldom pronunce 오. Instead of 오 they pronunce 우. Is there a reason for this? In what words is 오 pronunced as 오?

Examples of pronuncing 오 as 우
오늘 - 우늘 today
도 - 두 also, too
공부 - 공부 study

there are countless examples.

Thank you for your comments! I would say it is half and half.

When the word itself has that pronunciation, e.g. 오늘, it should be pronounced as it is.

However for the case if preposition, such as --도, this could be sounded differently as --두
