A. Key Vocabulary
Please translate the following vocabulary into Korean.
Example - 1. "feel a pain" : hint (a-pa-yo)

7. "to be all right / to be okay" : hint (gwaen-chan-a)

B. Lesson Focus
The focus of this lesson is to learn how to express "I feel a pain from (the body part)": (the body part) + 이(i)/가 (ga) 아파요 (a-pa-yo)

Parts of body + subject-marking particles (이/가) + 아프다 (a-peu-da): standard speech
Parts of body + subject-marking particles (이/가) + 아파 (a-pa)/아퍼 (a-peo): casual informal speech
Parts of body + subject-marking particles (이/가) + 아파요 (a-pa-yo)/아퍼요 (a-peo-yo): casual formal speech

Example - 1. "Where do you feel pain?" : hint (Eo-di-ga a-pa-yo?)
어(eo) + 디(di) + 가(ga) 아(a) + 파(pa) + 요(yo) = 어디가 아파요?

2. "My head (really) hurts" : hint (Meo-ri-ga (neo-mu) a-pa-yo)

3. "My arms (really) hurt" : hint (Pal-ri (neo-mu) a-pa-yo)

4. "My stomach (really) hurts" : hint (Bae-ga neo-mu a-pa)

C. Test yourself
Please translate the following into Korean.
Example - 1. "Where does it hurt when you catch a cold?" : hint (Gam-gi-e geol-ri-myeon eo-di-ga a-pa-yo?)
감기에 걸리면 어디가 아파요?

2. "(Your) throat hurts when you catch a cold." : hint (Gam-gi-e geol-ri-myeon mok-gi a-pa-yo)

3. "What's the problem, Tim? Are you all right?" : hint (Wae geu-rae, tim? Gwaen-chan-a?)

4. "I have sharp pains all over my body. My throat especially hurts." : hint (On-mom-i ssu-si-go teuk-hi mok-i a-pa-yo)

If you answer them in Korean, that's PERFECT!
If you answer them in Romanization, that's good too.
Reply this post then, I will kindly assist and give you the answers.
여러분 힘 내세요~~! Don't give up guys~~!
Cheers, Tim

Practice lesson 23

Postby bjonale » January 23rd, 2011 8:00 pm

특히, 감기, 주사, 어디, 목, 괜찮아,

B: lesson focus

모리가 노무 아파요.
팔이 노무 아파요. Arms..how do I make "arm" plural? My guess would be 팔이들...is that even close?
배가 아파요.

c.

검기에 걸리면 목이 아파요.
왜 그래, 팀? 괜찮아?
온몸이 쑤시고 특히 목이 아파요.

The sentences were hard...I had to look at my notes to get them correct. I just still don't have all the vocabulary memorized...but it helps to read and write them. Palapala

Hello Palapala~~

Thanks for doing all this, Palapala...
Okay let's take a look at your answers together!

A is PERFECT! (very well done!)

About B, you need to work on them.
1. you wrote, "모리가 노무 아파요." - should be 머리너무 아파요.
2. a same thing! Not 노무 but 너무 No... to make it plural, 팔 + = 팔들 therefore, 팔들이 아파요.
3. Good!

About C, I think you did a very good job on the them!
1. not 검기 but 감기
2. Great!
3. Wonderful!

you said, "The sentences were hard...I had to look at my notes to get them correct. I just still don't have all the vocabulary memorized..."
Sorry that I made it a bit difficult for you  However, you did GREAT on all the questions.
Palapala, I DO NOT expect you to answer them all correct! "NEVER!" What you have done is more than "GREAT"!
Do not push yourself too much! Just have fun learning and making Korean sentences with your knowledge. It's okay to make some mistakes.
Thanks so much, Palapala~~ "YOU ARE A VERY VALUABLE LISTENER FOR ME!"
BEST,

lesson 23

Thanks for your encouragement, Tim! I tried doing most of it without my notes this time, and from memory...like a real test! (except for section c.)I need to work on my pronounciation, as I spelled the words as I was pronouncing them...oops...which explains the mistakes...but that's the best way to learn. Thanks so much for taking the time to correct my answers.
